3 Indiana schools among 48 vying for College Cup
It’s a little early for March Madness. Luckily, November Madness has arrived.
The NCAA released the draw for the 2017 Men’s College Cup on Monday. The two semifinals and final will be held Dec. 8 and Dec. 10, respectively, at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
Three Indiana teams made the field of 48: No. 2 seed Indiana, No. 12 seed Notre Dame and unseeded Butler. The top 16 sides are seeded and given first-round byes, while the remaining 32 teams must display their mettle in the opening round.
Butler’s first match is Thursday at the Sellick Bowl against Lipscomb. No. 16 seed VCU awaits the winner.
Indiana will face the winner of Old Dominion vs. NC State. The Hoosiers (15-0-5) are unbeaten this season, but fell to Wisconsin in penalties in the Big Ten championship game Sunday.
And speaking of Wisconsin, the Badgers will play Illinois-Chicago in the opening round with the Fighting Irish taking on the victor.
