One of the most gifted — and cockiest — footballers to ever lace up a pair of boots has decided to swap his Manchester United red for the blue, gold and white of a certain Los Angeles-based MLS side.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has inked a deal with the LA Galaxy, per LA Times Galaxy beat writer Kevin Baxter.

Earlier Thursday morning, ESPN senior writer Mark Ogden first reported that Ibrahimovic was done at United and a move to MLS was imminent. Baxter’s tweet shortly thereafter then confirmed the 36-year-old’s ultimate landing spot.

The signing of Ibra represents not just one of the most significant imports in Galaxy history, but league history as well, rivaling the arrivals of David Beckham, David Villa, Sebastian Giovinco and a perhaps only a handful of other global superstars who flocked to MLS.

Ibrahimovic will form a suddenly potent Galaxy attack alongside Romain Alessandrini, Ola Kamara, Sebastian Lletget, the dos Santos Brothers and Emmanuel Boateng. With Alessandrini and the dos Santoses currently occupying all three of the Galaxy’s DP slots, one of those players will likely be bought down with TAM to make Ibra a DP.

The Galaxy play at Vancouver on Saturday night, then host new crosstown rival LAFC on March 31. It’s unclear how soon Ibrahimovic will join his teammates and be ready to suit up, but he’s probably likely to feature soon given his expeditious return to health from a knee injury. The Swede is now fully recovered from a nasty ACL rupture that required surgery, though he’s not necessarily in top form.

Ibrahimovic ends his United career with 29 tallies across 53 cameos in all competitions. He hadn’t appeared for the club since coming off the bench in late December against Burnley.
