Moises Orozco’s game winner earns Player of the Week honors
For his game-winning finish last weekend, Oxnard Guerreros FC striker Moises Orozco has been voted the NPSL Mitre National Player of the Week. Orozco’s separator was all his club needed to eke out a 1-nil win over FC Arizona in Week 3 of the NPSL season.
“Moi represents the Oxnard player,” Guerreros head coach Juan Florez said in a release. “He is gifted, a hard worker, and he is a dreamer. Moi has played at the highest level and knows he can be an impact there by polishing off a few things. He is pursuing this aggressively and understands the leadership role he has in the team.”
For Orozco, a local product, his first tally for the club meant a little something extra. He’ll also gladly take his team’s incremental improvement along with the individual accoloade.
“It is special,” Orozco said in a release. “Every award means a lot, and it was even better because I was able to achieve this award with my hometown team. I just want the team to continue to get better each week.”
The win was Oxnard Guerreros FC’s first of the season. The club sits at 1W-0D-1L with three points in the NPSL Southwest Division.
