GM blog: Old Bhoys season in full swing
As the Old Bhoys hit the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the season is in full swing. The Amateur Cup run continues, with a scheduled Region 2 Semifinal clash against RWB Adria in Chicago finalized for early June; the UPSL Midwest Conference South Division standings (below) reflect a solid rebound for the Bhoys following a slow start. Following a season opening loss to the very same RWB Adria (5-0), and dropping the UPSL home opener to Joliet (4-3), the Bhoys recorded their first UPSL league win against St. Louis Maritsa FC, shutting out the visitors from Missouri 4-0. After their first league victory at home, the squad headed to Springfield, IL to face Springfield FC, leaving town with all three points, 2-1. With two straight wins, and a trip to the Corn Crib to face FC Diablos in Bloomington-Normal, IL, the Bhoys are working to keep momentum to put pressure back on Joliet and Adria for the division. The current divisional table features Joliet Soccer United in front with 12 points from a total of 15 available; however, Adria has two matches at hand, and only trails Joliet by three. The Bhoys hold the 3rd spot in the Division with six points from a possible 12, as Maritsa, although level on points and goal difference, is just behind due to goals for at this point. However, Maritsa does have a match in hand at this point in the season. On zero points so far, FC Diablos are 5th on goal difference over Springfield FC…
