Power Soccer exhibition set for BYB tailgate ahead of LIPAFC
INDIANAPOLIS — It’s been well established that the Louisville Indianapolis Proximity Association Football Contest (LIPAFC) derby between the Indy Eleven and Louisville City FC is the grandest rivalry in not just soccer, but all of sports. However, two hours before the match kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday night at Lucas Oil, there’ll be an even more epic clash in the parking lot immediately south of the stadium at the Brickyard Battalion (BYB) tailgate.
A Power Soccer exhibition game between Fishers, Ind.-based RHI Sudden Impact and Louisville-based LouCity Power Soccer, hosted by the BYB, will go down in Lucas Oil’s South Lot.
“The Brickyard Battalion believes that all athletes deserve a great crowd — and that’s where you come in,” said BYB board member Katherine Reed, who’s in charge of community outreach. “Please join us at the LIPAFC tailgate to support our local Power Soccer team, RHI Sudden Impact, as they take on LouCity Power Soccer. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m. We know we’ll out-sing the Louisville supporters inside Lucas Oil… let’s make sure we out-sing them at the Power Soccer game, too.”
Donations benefiting the U.S. Power Soccer Association (USPSA) will be accepted at the tailgate. Founded in 2006, the organization has grown to become one the leading associations worldwide within the wheelchair sport. The USPSA headquarters are located in Carmel, Ind.
The sport now boasts over 250 teams globally playing under the umbrella of the official governing body, the Federation of International Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA), which is based in Paris.
To reiterate, kickoff between RHI Sudden Impact and LouCity Power Soccer is set for 5 p.m. in the South Lot, with the Indy Eleven and Louisville City FC opening the 2019 LIPAFC series inside Lucas Oil at 7.
