Christian Pulisic had himself a day Wednesday against RB Salzburg.

Making his fourth appearance of the preseason for the Blues, the American winger scored twice during his 74-minute shift in Chelsea’s 5-3 win. The tallies marked the first time Pulisic got on the scoresheet with his new club.

Both strikes came before the intermission. On the first, Pulisic brought down an aerial through ball before changing speeds while dribbling, which created some space from the now-recovered defenders. He then rolled a low, softly hit shot that beat Salzburg goalkeeper Cican Stankovic at the far post.

The second came just eight minutes later, this time from an even sublimer effort. The Yankee youngster collected a long ball with his chest while running at maximum pace, then calmly slotted past Stankovic in style.

In between the two, Pulisic also drew a penalty that saw teammate Ross Barkley step to the spot and convert. It was a performance worthy of man of the match, though his two exceptional efforts were later outdone by this golazo from Pedro Rodriguez:

Pulisic had a somewhat quiet 2018-19 campaign at Borussia Dortmund with four goals and four assists in league play, but also logged less than 1,000 minutes.

With world-class winger Eden Hazard off to Real Madrid, the Blues will hope for more days like this from Christian Pulisic throughout the 2019-20 season — and beyond — if they’re to match or exceed their grand annual expectations.
